The world of business has really changed over the past 20 years. 20 years ago the phone book, news papers, radio and television were the best places to advertise for more customers and clients for your business. In fact, they were pretty much your only options. Now there is the Internet and it has really changed everything.
Who even uses a phone book anymore? In fact I don't even have one in my house, and neither do most of the people that I know either. Years ago when we had an Auto Body shop the costs of advertising in the phone book was about $1k a month. Now with a budget of $1k for your marketing efforts you can really crush it on the web, and bring in far more customers than the phone book ever could. Websites and Search Engines have taken the place of the phone book. People used to get their news from newspapers. Now they get their news from FaceBook. Television marketing - YouTube blows them away. Almost 1/3 of the planet is watching YouTube videos and reaches more 18 to 49 year olds than any cable network in the United States. Now days almost everyone has a smart phone. Even people over the age of 70 now have smart phones. This gives them instant access to any services that they may need at their finger tips. If they need a plumber in a hurry, chances are they are going to search something like "emergency plumber", and if your business isn't listed in the top spot, there is a potential customer that you are losing to your competition that is at the top. That brings us to the purpose of this post. Why it is so important to not only have a website, but also be using other social media platforms to reach your potential customers and clients, and use SEO techniques to make sure you are at the top of the searches. The old saying of "Build It And They Will Come" just isn't so when it comes to any of your social media properties, whether it be your website, YouTube video, company FaceBook page, etc. If you just build a website it will just sit there and collect digital dust. The reality is that your internet properties have to be on page 1 of the searches to get any real results. This is achieved by performing search engine optimization techniques, on your website and social properties as well as what's known as "off-page". It's important that your website be properly optimized to rank in the searches, but not overly optimized. If you don't have the proper structure to your website and keywords and LSI keywords (LSI is kind of like synonyms) sprinkled through out your content, you won't rank. If you put your keyword in the content to many times (over optimization), this can incur a penalty for your site from Google pushing it farther down in the rankings, or possible being de-indexed all together. The same holds true for all of your other web properties as well. Here is what this post is all about, with the proper SEO Consultant, you can get your website, videos and other social properties to the top of the searches. In fact studies show that somewhere between 60% to 70% of all clicks go to the TOP 3 search results on page 1 of the organic searches. The rest goes to adwords at the top of the page and the other 7 listings on Page 1. Most people don't even go to page 2. That's why we say, in fun, "The Best Place To Hide A Dead Body Is On Page 2 Of Google Results!" So if you are on page 2 or farther back, your web property is sitting there, collecting digital dust. So as you can see, you must be performing SEO services to your properties to get them to the top of the searches, more importantly to the top 3 positions on Page 1, otherwise you are missing a lot of business.
